004Meet Taz a Humane Society Senior Cat

The winter months are especially difficult for The Humane Society Serving Clark County. The number of pets coming into the shelter often outnumbers the adoptions for the shelter at this time of year. There is also a decline in redemptions of lost pets that are found on the streets of Springfield and Clark County and brought to the shelter until their owners come to claim them.

If you are looking for a new forever friend, please consider watching our Facebook page and adopting one of our many wonderful dogs and cats. All of our pets have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, come with a dog license and have been vet checked and have their vaccinations.

You will find dogs and cats of every color, shape and size at the shelter located at 5201 Urbana Road, just north of Springfield. Many of our dogs have already learned basic commands. From fluffy to pit mix, less than ten pounds to over 100 pounds, we have someone for every family to love.

This week we are featuring Taz the cat. He came to our shelter with a few challenges and is looking for a new home.

Taz is a sweet kitty who is blind in one eye. The vet tells us he is 12 years old and is front declawed. Not everyone wants a senior cat so he has a special adoption fee of just $15. All of our cats are tested for FIV and FELV, vaccinated, dewormed, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

Check out Taz on our Facebook page and share his info far and wide to help him find a new home soon.

If you would like to donate dry food for our cats and dogs, just drop off a bag at the shelter. We are also at PetSmart every Saturday from 11 – 2 with some of our adoptable dogs. You can also drop off donations during that time.

Thanks to everyone who reads our stories in the Enon Eagle and the New Carlisle News and thanks to the publisher for sharing our stories every week. Many of our friends have found forever homes thanks to your generous shares on Facebook too.

The Humane Society Serving Clark County also works with rescue organizations. If you would like more information, please contact the shelter at 399-2917 and speak to the shelter director at extension 14.
