After the opening game last Thursday night, the Bethel volleyball team has all the momentum, and was focused on winning their first game of the season. But as Tri-Village turned things around, the Lady Bees (0-3, 0-1) watched as their visitors took the next three games, en route to a 18-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-16 win over Bethel, in the opening game of Cross County Conference league play.

When the opening kickoff landed in the hands of Zeke Eier, things looked upbeat as the Tecumseh senior took it back 75 yards for a game opening touchdown. Unfortunately for the Arrows, that was one of the rare highlights on opening night, as the host Arrows lost to Fairborn 15-12, when the Skyhawks scored late for the win.

Even when he’s not entertaining, Careful the Clown arrives in style.
Careful, also known as New Carlisle resident Craig Jarratt, travels around town on a Segway vehicle. His rainbow-colored glasses, black bowler hat and “Off Duty Clown” pin signal a man for whom fun isn’t just a hobby – it’s a passion. He clowns at parades, at nursing homes, at community picnics and birthday parties. He’s even the president – or “boss clown” – of a local clowning organization, the Giggles and Grins Clown Alley.

Everyone knows that the Bethel Bees are expected to be strong on the soccer field. As they took the field in their season opener last week hosting Milton Union, they would quiet any doubters. The Bees (1-0) jumped out to a four goal lead at the half, and rolled to an impressive 8-0 win over their county rival Bulldogs squad.
