New Carlisle City Manager Randy Bridge reported to council at their meeting on Monday night that he has received 12 applications for the Fire Administrator/Chief position that was advertised in the Miami Valley newspapers.  According to Bridge the city also posted the ad on Monster.Com and will close the posting on October 9, 2015.

Bridge stated that the interview process will be held as a community forum to allow for “transparency” during the process.  The city will hold an open public forum a most likely at the Smith Shelter House noted Bridge.

In the advertisement, the city noted that the successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the Division of Fire/EMS and reports to the City Manager.  The ad clearly states that the new Chief will utilize the experience of the officers of the Division to formulate and recommend to the City Manager for approval policies, procedures, rules and regulations for management and operations and personnel.  A complete list of duties and responsibilities is outlined in the Monster.Com advertisement.  

When asked by a member of the public if any internal applications were received, Bridge stated that there were none.

Mayor Lowell McGlothlin presented a Key to the City to the Heritage of Flight Festival and Parade Committee.  In comments, McGlothlin thanked the committee for their work on another successful event in downtown New Carlisle this year.  

A public hearing for the Planning Board will be held on October 8th at 3:30 concerning plans for changes at the Vancrest Health Care Centers.  The estimated $5 million expansion plans for the Dayview Care Center will be disclosed at the meeting.  The hearing will be held at the Smith Park Shelter House.

Local events reminders include Family Movie Night sponsored by National Trails Parks and Recreation District.  The event will feature ParaNorman and begins at dusk at Smith Park on October 10th.

The city is looking for volunteers to help plant $250 in spring flowering bulbs purchased by the city as part of the Keep Clark County Beautiful Grant.  Volunteers can dress for the weather and gardening meeting at the City Building at 9 am.

The next regular meeting of council will be on Monday, October 19 at 7 pm.  All meetings are held at Smith Park.
