At the April 13, 2016 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners, the commissioners approved two grant submission requests for the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS). The first grant was a request for a SNAP Employment and Training Grant to the Ohio DJFS Office of Family Assistance for $50,000 to pay for expenses that are necessary for participation in the SNAP program including transportation cost, tuition and fees, background checks, uniforms and other costs. The grant is effective May 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016.

Second, the commissioners authorized a grant submission for a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids grant for $63,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation for a renewal to fund one part-time Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter to assist Clark County DJFS in finding permanent placement for youth who have been in permanent custody of the agency for extended time. The grant is effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.

In regular business, they authorized several payments. First, they approved a payment of $28,126.24 to Arcon Builders, LTC for the Juvenile Court Courtyard Improvements Project.

Second, they authorized a payment to the Humane Society Servicing Clark County of $1,568 for donations received from December 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016.

Third, they approved payments to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for $7,659.45 and to the City of Springfield for $11,489.18 for the distribution of funds received from the State Treasurer for the Wireless 9-1-1 Government Assistance Fund. The distribution of the funds is based on population and currently is set at a 40/60 split between the county Sheriff’s Department and the city.

Last, they authorized a payment of $3,300 to the Clark County Agricultural Society for the annual fair premiums.

The next meeting of the Clark County Commissioners is scheduled for April 20, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Conference Room. Two public zoning hearings will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Public Chambers of the county offices. The first hearing is for the Community Housing Impact and Preservation Program (CHIP). Second, the commissioners will hear rezoning request filed by William and Cheryl Herrmann to rezone 70.06 acres at 5370 and 5372 Hunter Road from A-1 agriculture to R-1 Rural Residence.
