At the June 1, 2016 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners, the Commissioners approved the change of the date, time and location of the regularly scheduled July 27, 2016. Instead, the Commissioners will conduct the meeting on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Arts and Crafts Building at the Clark County Fairgrounds located at 4401 S. Charleston Pike. The meeting will take place during the fair to allow Clark County citizens’ access to the commissioners at that time.

In addition, the commissioners approved the placement of uncollected charges for sewer and water on the tax duplicate for 18 properties in Springfield and Moorefield townships. The total uncollected charges add up to $16,219.49. By placing the uncollected fees on the tax duplicate, both the county and the property owners’ benefit. First, it guarantees that the county will eventually collect the fees. Second, the property owner will no longer accumulate late charges.

For the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS), the commissioners authorized a contract with the Clark County Combined Health District for $90,000 to provide lice control, treatment and education effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018.

They also increased the contract with Miami Valley Child Development Centers, Inc by $30,000 to provide Early Head Start program services for up to eight children in the Family and Children’s Services caseload for an additional year. The amended contract is effective June 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.

For the County Engineer, the commissioners authorized an increase of $1,775 in the contract with A-Team Property Management & Maintenance, LLC to reflect actual construction costs. The new contract is valued at $27,315. The contract is for the construction and renovations of the men’s and women’s restrooms and the adjacent mini kitchen in the Engineering Department Facility.

In addition, the commissioners acknowledge the unit price bids for asphalt concrete, asphalt emulsion, fog seal asphalt emulsion and limestone for the engineer’s summer road construction projects. The commissioners received bids from The Shelly Company, A&B Asphalt Corporation, and Barrett Paving Materials, Inc for asphalt concrete. They received a bid from Asphalt Material, Inc for asphalt emulsion. They received a bid from Terry Materials, Inc for fog seal asphalt emulsion. In addition, they received bids from Barrett Paving Materials, Inc and Melvin Stone for the limestone. The bids were sent to the engineering staff for evaluation.

For the Clark County Humane Society, the commissioners approved a payment of $38,443.78 for the second extension of the 2015 contract. The Humane Society provides shelter and adoption services for stray and abandoned animals throughout Clark County.

The next meeting of the Clark County Commissioners is scheduled for June 15, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Conference Room at 50 E. Columbia Street.
