At the June 15, 2016 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners, the commissioners acknowledged receipts of 2016 road construction bids for the County Engineer. The first bids for the 2016 Road Pavement Marking Project included bids from Oglesby Construction Inc. for $202,323.28 and Aero-Mark, Inc. for $219,100. The engineer estimated the project cost at $204,654.75. The two bids were referred to the engineering staff for further evaluation.
In addition, the commissioners received two bids for the 2016 Road Resurfacing Project. The bids included a bid from A&B Asphalt, Inc. for $1,416,783.24 and a bid from The Shelly Company for $1,426,303. The engineer estimated the project at $1,624,576.26. The bids were referred to the engineering staff for further evaluation.
The commissioners also authorized two contracts for right of ways. The first contract with Darmis and Marleen Litteral of Newlove Road for $600 purchased the right of way on their property for the Newlove Road Construction Project.
Furthermore, the commissioners authorized a settlement agreement with Donna L. Whitacre of Derr Road for the purchase of the right of way on her property for the Deer Road Widening Project.
For the Solid Waste District, the commissioners authorized a contract with Quest Adult Services, Inc. for up to $7,500 per year with four optional annual renewals. The total contract cannot exceed $50,000. Quest will collect, shred, and recycle materials effective June 15, 2016.
For Buildings and Grounds, the commissioners approved an increased to the contract with Arcon Builders, Ltd. by $695.43 for the Juvenile Court Courtyard Improvements Project. The increase was necessary to adjust the tapered roof insulation design to channel all storm water to one primary scupper. As a result, more insulation was necessary to file the space required by the increased slope.
In regular business, the commissioners appointed Samantha Sommer Morris to the Local Emergency Planning Committee. Her term will expire on August 14, 2017.
