On June 22, 2016 Clark County Administrator Nathan Kennedy notified the Board of Clark County Commissioners that he will be resigning this August to accept an employment opportunity in Snohomish County, Washington. Kennedy will begin service as Snohomish County's Finance Director beginning September 1,2016.

Kennedy states, "I have enjoyed working for the Board of County Commissioners and serving Clark County in various capacities. Within the past several years, much has been accomplished by the Clark County elected officials, management team, and staff. I am proud to say I was a part of that team. However, Snohomish County presents unique opportunities for my family and for me. For this reason, my family members and I are relocating.

Since I have been the County Administrator, we have improved cash balances; maintained a AA2 Moody's bond rating despite an economic recession; established many budgetary, procurement, capital improvement, and debt management policies and procedures; and started a major renovation project on the Courthouse and the A. B. Graham Building. I am proud to have helped initiate several other projects that are in the works including: a county building renovation project, a county security improvement project, and a budget policy that allows us to fund large economic development projects. The timing of my relocation will not allow me to see these projects through, so I leave that work to those who come after me. I am just fortunate that I was part of a team that made it possible to save enough money to envision these projects and fund them for public use and enjoyment.

I would also like to say I leave behind a small yet very capable staff that is dedicated to improving Clark County and serving its citizens. Through this staff, managerial frame work and financial resources, Clark County will have the opportunity to move forward and take on many of its community challenges, such as its population loss and high poverty rate.

I thank the Board and those whom I have had the pleasure of serving."

Kennedy holds a CPA and began working for Clark County in November 2000 as the Manager of Financial and Management Support Systems. In 2005 he briefly worked for the City of Springfield, as the City's Finance Director, before returning to the County as Assistant County Administrator. He began serving as the County Administrator in January 2011. His final date has not been determined.
