At the August 17, 2016 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners, the commissioners authorized the Right of Entry to the Gallagher Fen State Nature Preserve to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The access was necessary to complete the Old Columbus Road Bridge Construction Project. Gallagher Fen State Nature Preserve is a 213-acre fen, which natural habitat has been preserved. A fen is a wetland community dominated by sedges and grasses. It is often poorly drained outwash channels and plains in which many rare and protected species of plants survive. According to Commissioner John Detrick, “The land which borders Beaver Creek has been preserved as it was 200 years ago.”

For the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS), the commissioners amended the contract with Oesterlen Services for Youth, Inc. to clarify the procedure to provide respite care to wraparound services clients. The contract is effective through December 31, 2016. Wraparound care provides home intervention services to preserve a family when moderate issues of neglect or abuse have been discovered.

For the Utilities Director, the commissioners authorized a contract up to $20,000 with Team EJP West Carrollton to provide sew and water line tapping and valve installation work on an as needed bases.

In regular business, the commissioners officially accepted the resignation of County Administrator Nathan Kennedy.

They also adopted an amendment to the Clark County Personnel Policy Manual to provide compensation for non-exempt employees to be on-call for emergencies after normal shift hours effective July 1, 2016.

The next meeting of the Clark County Commissioners is scheduled for August 24, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Conference Room at 50 E. Columbia Street.
