At the April 5, 2017 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners, the commissioners passed a resolution in support of 17 landowners for their applications to the State of Ohio for purchase of agricultural easements for their properties. The Agricultural Easement Purchasing Program (AEPP) allows the property owners to preserve their farm land. Associate Director Michele Burns of the Tecumseh Land Trust presented the commissioners with the list of 17 property owners, which includes over 2300 acres of prime farm land, who have completed the application and were accepted by the State of Ohio to preserve the properties permanently as farm land.
The Tecumseh Land Trust is a nonprofit conservation organization that works in voluntary cooperation with property owners in Greene and Clark Counties to preserve agricultural land, natural areas, water resources, and historic sites. They also provide educational programs to the public about permanent land preservation and assist landowners with the application process for state and federal easement programs. Currently the organization has helped preserve over 28,000 acres in Clark and Greene Counties.
In addition, the commissioners authorized two contracts for the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). The first contract for $29,100 will be used by CIC to provide funding for the Dayton Development Coalition to promote economic development in Clark County from March 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. The second contract for $334,650 will be used by CIC for economic development and the retention of existing industrial, commercial, distribution, and research facilities within Clark County from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017.
The commissioners also authorized the purchase of multiple vehicles by the Engineering Department and the Sheriff’s Department. For the Engineer, they authorized the purchase of three single axle cab and chassis dump trucks for $262,352,94 from Rush Truck Centers and the purchase of three single axle snow plow packages with dump bodies for $201,192 from National Joint Powers Alliance.
For the Sheriff’s Department, they authorized the purchase of a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Sedan for $26,956 from Lebanon Ford.
In addition, for the Engineer, the commissioners approved a contract with Bowser Morner, Inc. for $48,000 for concrete and asphalt observation, testing and laboratory services from April 5, 2017 through December 31, 2019.
For the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS), they authorized a contract with Scherzinger Termite and Pest Control for $30,000 for standard and targeted pest control from April 2, 2017 through April 4, 2019.
In regular business, the commissioners authorized the creation and management of Clark County Social Media Pages. In addition, they approved guidelines for any county department for use of social media pages by the department.
They also approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Clark County Agriculture Society for $33,505 to repair the bleachers at the fairgrounds. The MOU is effective April 5, 2017 through December 31, 2017.
The next meeting of the Clark County Commissioners is scheduled for April 12, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Conference Room at 50 E Columbia Street.
