The auditors from Montgomery, Clark, Warren and Greene Counties are sponsoring a Skimmer Summit on December 2, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Madison Lakes Learning Center at 581 Olive Road, Dayton, OH. The Summit is designed to share information and raise awareness concerning illegal credit card skimming. Skimmers place credit card skimmers inside fuel dispensers at gas stations to rob consumers of their credit card information.

There have been four known incidences of skimmers in the area including one in Montgomery County, three in Butler County and one in Hamilton County. Skimmers target gas stations easily accessible from the interstates.
Auditors, Keith Karl, Montgomery County, John Federer, Clark County, Matt Nolan, Warren County, and David Graham, Greene County have engaged a number of speakers and panelist to participate in the summit. In addition, there will be representatives from the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Weights and Measures Division, the Ohio Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies, and representatives from the credit card and petroleum industries. The panelist will share best practices and answer questions to help stop the practice and prevent it from escalating.
Anyone interested in helping to address the issue are encouraged to attend including gas station owners, credit card companies and other interested parties. For additional information and reservations, contact the Chief Weights and Measures Inspector, Joe Harris, at 937-225-6309 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
