The Bethel Township Miami Zoning Commission heard a request from Jeannine Friend of 6010 US 40 to split and rezone the 23.87 acre property at 6160 US 40 into two parcels. The current parcel is zoned A-2 General Agriculture. Friend request that the parcel be split into two parcels one parcel to be 2.933 acres and zoned B-3 Neighborhood Business. The remaining 20.937 acres would remain A-2 General Agriculture for use as agricultural and residential purposes.

No Bethel Township residents opposed the request.

However, Commissioner Julie Reese questioned driveway access to the proposed parcel. Friend indicated that she will work with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to work out the driveway access off of the highway.

The commission approved the request with an abstention from Commissioner Lorna Furderer. The Bethel Township Trustees will hold a public hearing on the request at 6:30 p.m. on October 11, 2016 before their regular meeting. The Bethel Trustees will make the final decision on the requested lot split at rezoning at their regular meeting on that date.
