The Industrial Technology Department congratulates Ryan Kilgore for being selected as the first Industrial Technology Student of the Month for the 2015-2016 school year. According to instructor Mr. John Kame, Kilgore’s understandings of mechanical concepts, willingness to help other classmates, and performance in class have been exceptional. He has produced excellent projects and assignments in a previous class and is currently enrolled in metals technology and woodworking classes.
To commemorate Patriot Day on September 11th, Mrs. McKibben’s kindergarten class at Park Layne Elementary read A.B. Curtis’ The Little Chapel That Stood, the story of the historic St. Paul’s Chapel. The chapel, built in 1766, stood less than 100 yards from the Twin Towers yet miraculously survived on 9/11. These students also read September 12: We Knew Everything Would Be All Right written and illustrated by Masterson Elementary first graders, a story with a message of hope and healing.
Fifth graders Lucy Hughes and Elijah Gansheimer along with their teachers, Mrs. Evans and Mr. Loudenback spoke at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting about New Carlisle Elementary’s school store, the main component of the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) system. Students helped to set up the store, and PTO parent volunteers assist students visiting the store on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11-1. Using reward tickets, students may purchase puzzles, Arrows tee shirts and sweatshirts, bookbags, and school supplies or lunch with Principal Kathryn Randenburg.
