Fourth and fifth grade students at New Carlisle Elementary are participating in the Earth Day Groceries Project this year by decorating paper grocery bags provided by the Springfield Meijer store in celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd.

The Clark County Solid Waste District is working with Meijer to distribute the 460 completed bags decorated by students at New Carlisle Elementary to shoppers during the week before Earth Day (April 17 – 22). The Solid Waste District distributed 1,710 bags to 10 Clark County schools in 2016. Thousands more participated in this project nationwide.

Meijer’s shoppers can enjoy students’ artwork and celebrate Earth Day as they shop the Springfield Meijer store the week of April 17-22.

New Carlisle Elementary librarian Mrs. Eldridge coordinated the project.
