The New Carlisle News obtained the email exchange between Tecumseh Local School District (TLSD) Treasurer Debra Schock and then Superintendent Brad Martin regarding missing invoices for 8 iPads. Martin requested, and was granted, two checks for the sum of $3893 to purchase 8 iPads, but failed to produce the invoices or the iPads themselves.

We need the receipts for July 21, ck # 106991 for $1497.00 and a receipt for Check #106833 dated June 30 for $2396.00. We don’t have the receipts, would you please get copies for us to attach to our checks, and we need to tag the iPad with inventory tag-Judy needs the iPad to get serial #’s, etc. and tag.
Judy also needs the iPad to tag and get serial #’s. She may have some others that need tagged.

Hi Brad, Just an urgent reminder, we still need the 8 iPad that you purchased, to tag and obtain the serial #’s; and we need the 2 missing invoices. The tags/inventory items are supposed to be in the state data base. The State Auditor’s will be back soon to finish the audit, they have access to all of our reports on line, they will be looking at inventory-comparing checks, account codes, to the state inventory data base. They will want to see a sample of items and the iPad may be pulled.

I-pads invoices needed ASAP. Brad, we need the receipts for the two purchase orders (possibly a third purchase order). If you could tell me where you bought the iPad and the date and approximate time of day, I will contact the store and attempt to get a copy of the receipts (invoices), if you cannot find the invoices. The first receipt that we need is for 4 iPad, ck #106833 and 3 iPad on check #106991. There may be a third check for 2 more iPad, will let you know about that.
I need to get this issue resolved as soon as we can. The auditors will return soon. Thank you for your assistance in clearing this up so we can be in compliance with ORC.

Peter’s brother viewing and funeral will be in California. Peter is leaving town on Tuesday.
We will more than likely be canceling school on the May election date. After my meeting today, I do not see anything changing in voting locations.
I will need to get board action for this day.
I may take a vacation day on Tuesday to go shopping with my wife. Jessica is off work the rest of the week.

End of Email Chain
An internal investigation was launched which led to the suspension, then firing of Martin for conduct unbecoming of an administrator.
Mr. Martin’s contract termination hearing is set for Feb. 11. It is not yet determined to be a public meeting.
