The Bethel Township Trustees of Clark County met Tuesday, September 22 for a very brief regular meeting.

Fire Chief Jacob King said that as of the meeting date, his departments had responded to 1,490 calls for service since the beginning of the year. In September, 33 fire calls, 98 EMS, and five motor vehicle crashes with injuries were reported.

The trustees responded to a request from a resident about installing two memorial vases at a grave-site in the Donnelsville Cemetery. Requests like this must be taken before the board, which approved.

One nuisance property within the township was brought to the board’s attention by township Deputy Alan Cox.

The board approved a new liquor license request from the Eagles on Quick Road, which permits beer and liquor to members only until 1 a.m.

Township Administrator Ray Nelson told the trustees that a man had approached him about completing his community service hours with the township. The board approved, and Nelson said there would be no shortage of tasks for the man to perform.

During the citizen comments portion of the meeting, two residents shared different opinions on the legalization of marijuana in Ohio. One man said that marijuana had killed several children in Colorado, while the other man argued that he had never heard of anyone who had overdosed on the substance.
