Christmas ParadePreparations are well underway in the City of New Carlisle for the 30th Annual Main Street Holiday Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 5th this year.

The New Carlisle News has been in touch with the North Pole and we have confirmation that the Jolly Old Elf himself will be landing at the Barnhart Memorial Airport at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Jingle and Sparkle the spokes elves for Mr. Claus confirm that Santa would love to see as many boys and girls at the airport as possible this year. He really enjoys seeing the happy faces of the children as he steps out of his plan from the North Pole.

Santa will join in the fun of the holiday parade which will begin at 10 a.m. Units in the parade will walk up Main Street (from Madison) to Lake Avenue and on to the Firehouse.

This year the Tecumseh Arrows Marching Band will be performing during the parade and then provide a concert at the Firehouse.

This year the elves have planned a special event that will include area children in the parade. Anyone dressed in a holiday or storybook costume will be able to walk in the parade. You should plan to be at Madison and Main Street by 9:30 to walk in the parade.

Costumes will be judged at the Firehouse, 315 N. Church Street for the best costumes with three gift cards being awarded to the winners.

Santa will be visiting with the youngsters inside the Firehouse following the parade. Refreshments are planned and parents and grandparents can bring their camera for the perfect photo opportunity.

The local merchants will host their Holiday Open Houses from 10 – 5.

Something new has been added this year, but yet it is also a return to holiday tradition. Council member Ethan Reynolds announced recently that everyone is invited to come down to the city tree and bring decorations starting at 2:30 p.m. Once the tree is decorated, the official lighting will be held at 6:30 pm including a sing along.

A full day of holiday fun can be found in downtown New Carlisle this year. If the weather outside is frightful, the fun will continue at the Firehouse without a parade.
