During the Friends of the New Carlisle Public Library Book Sale, the Friends with the support of the New Carlisle community raised $1,354.03 to support the New Carlisle Public Library. The monies will be used to purchase Audio/Visual Technology Upgrades for the library. Directory Bryan Howard hopes to be able to purchase a DVD cleaning machine, which will allow the library to keep the CDs and DVDs that are loaned to the community in top condition. In addition, the library hopes to be able to purchase a large flat screen television to be used to announce new acquisitions and upcoming library programs available to patrons.
During the book sale, the Friends were able to offer the library patrons a wide variety of materials including large print books, fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, DVDs and CDs. The remaining large print books will be donated to Dayview Care Center so the facility can establish a library for residents. In addition, the remaining children’s books and materials are being donated to the Bethel Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization for their book sale scheduled May 17 through May 20, 2016.
