The usual safety day for FYI is a number of health booths, talking about related issues and healthy living. Because of lack of space, it has been difficult to put in some items that especially concern so many in the area—such as car and motorcycle safety. This year, that will change.

Because the community as had some loved ones die with motorcycles and because so many feel comfortable with wearing some of the motorcycle helmets that may not protect them properly, FYI has contacted motorcycle safety experts and groups to have a space at Tecumseh High School to teach a little about motorcycle safety beyond the helmet. This is the season that sees more accidents on the road and around the area, so this education is essential especially to younger riders who may have their first cycle. Come and view the awesome bikes and ask the cyclists about how to stay safe.

Another new event this year will be a special place for a cruise-in of classic cars. Led by Max Roadruck who has a 1929 Model A and Greg Groeber bringing his classic Packard, everyone with an antique or classic car is invited to join in the fun and bring it to show it off. Safety Day, named this year, The People Behind the Badge—A Salute to all those who keep us safe!, will be held at Tecumseh High School on August 11 this year from 4p.m. to 7p.m. The event will have booths and special events for all ages—with special games that will challenge the Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, and other Safety personnel against both themselves and the high school students. The public is invited and encouraged to come for the information from each booth and for the competition between the various groups.
