Medway’s Bicentennial Celebration will heat up when Dayton’s Common Thread appears during the town’s August festivities.

Doug Werner and Tiffany Harnly played together in a high energy country band before breaking out two years ago and forming Common Thread during a series of local open mic nights. The duo plays country, classic rock, pop, and a mix of everything else. Harnly is inspired by Sarah Bareilles, Kacey Musgraves, and Stevie Nicks. Werner is influenced more by Dwight Yoakum, Mark Knopfler, and Eric Clapton.

Harnly says she and Werner really enjoy collaborating on music together and are always educating each other on different styles and genres of music. When not playing music together, Harnly works as a paralegal and Werner works as an airplane mechanic and Air Force Reservist.

Common Thread plays throughout the Miami Valley. The band’s groupies are called “Thread Heads” and Harnly says anyone can join the Thread Heads by liking the band’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/commonthreadduo, to add to the group’s “Thread count.”

Harnly says Common Thread is looking forward to playing at Medway and she and Werner can’t wait to share their love of music with the local community.
