September and October will be a busy couple of months for The Humane Society Serving Clark County. On September 12, the Humane Society will be participating in a special adoption event sponsored by PetSmart on Bechtle Avenue in Springfield.

Area rescue organizations will be joining the Humane Society under the big tent to find forever homes for adoptable pets. The Pawking Lot Party will begin at 11 am and end at 4pm. This event will feature as many adoptable dogs and cats as the rescue organizations can bring along.

In addition to the adoptions, The Humane Society will be holding a raffle of Ohio State themed baskets for Fido and Family and Fluffy and Family. For families, the baskets will contain OSU items as well as gift cards and other delights. For the furry family members there are themed toys, collars and other treats to make them bark and purr for more. Each basket will contain over $100 in donated items from PetSmart, businesses and volunteers. Tickets are just $1 each or 6 for $5. Watch the Humane Society Facebook page for more information on this and all of the upcoming events. A Smooch a Pooch booth and homemade dog treats will be held to help the Humane Society raise funds for the shelter animals.

Anyone who donates any of the following at the event will receive a free raffle ticket. Dry dog or cat food. Rawhide chews or soft treats for the prison dog training program.

The Humane Society will be able to provide $20 off of all dog adoptions at this event thanks to the generosity of Springfield based Best Friends Pet Assisted Therapy. This offer does not extend to other rescue organizations attending the event.

On October 3rd, the Humane Society will be offering $15 microchipping for dogs and cats at the annual Woofstock event to be held at the Central Bark Dog Park located in Snyder Park and sponsored by NTPRD. This event will also feature adoptable dogs. This free event will also have vendors, food trucks and music provided by NTPRD.

October 12th from 12 – 5 the activities conclude with the annual Dogtoberfest held at Brandeberry Winery in Mad River Township located at 5118 Jackson Road. There will be food, wine and pet adoptions at this annual fundraiser. For your pets, you can participate in a dog costume contest at 3 pm. Music and raffles will also be part of the effort to not only adopt some of the shelter dogs, but to support the financial needs of the Humane Society.

Don’t forget to that all dogs, cats and ferrets in Ohio must have a Rabies vaccine. The Humane Society will be microchipping at the upcoming Rabies Clinics sponsored by The Clark County Combined Health District on September 8 at the district offices and September 22 at Park Layne Elementary on Dille Road. Both clinics are from 4 – 7 pm with a cost of $10 for the vaccine and $15 for the microchipping. Cash only will be accepted.
