New Carlisle Fire crews were called to High Tech Castings at 12170 Milton Carlisle Rd. Saturday evening for a report of smoke coming from the building and going across the road.
The smoke could be seen coming from the building and hanging around Gastineau Field.
“It was just processing equipment,” said New Carlisle Fire Chief Steve Trusty. “When it’s this chilly and humid, the smoke tends to stay close to the ground. If this were a warm summer night, you wouldn’t see it.”
Fire crews had to wait a few minutes for a keyholder to arrive.
Trusty had called for mutual aid from Bethel (Clark Co.) and Elizabeth Townships, but they were released when it was learned that they were not needed.
