The New Carlisle Public Library is offering a new service. For patrons who are homebound, but still love to read, watch movies, and enjoy the other services the library offers, we are starting a program from which the patrons can request materials through our online catalog or by calling the library to ask for the materials. The library will then deliver the materials to the patrons’ homes on a biweekly basis. The library is looking to connect to patrons who would like to use this service and volunteers who would like to share their love of reading and the library with individuals who have difficulty getting there.

If you are interested in participating in the program as a patron or a volunteer, contact Tillie Jamison at 845-3601 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Jamison will schedule an appointment to come to your house to assess your needs and get you started back on the road of reading some of the great books the library offers. Please spread the word to others you may know that could use our new service.

In addition, the library is offering a program on Reincarnation on September 12, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Reincarnation is the concept that the soul of a person starts a new life in a different physical body after death. It is a central tenet of all major Indian religions, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. The idea of reincarnation is found in many ancient cultures, and was held by the Greek Philosophers Pythagoras, Socrates, and Plato. In recent decades, many Europeans and North Americans have developed an interest in reincarnation. Come participate in the discussion to find out more about the belief.

The library is also hosting an author panel of local authors on October 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The authors will discuss the pros and cons of traditional and self-publishing and share insights into the process of getting your writing out to the world. Whether you are writing your memoirs, a mystery, historical novel, or a nonfiction book, the insights from writers who have walked the road before you will help in your journey to publication.
