NC Community Chorus 1Poinsettias and a Christmas tree provided the backdrop to the New Carlisle Community Chorus’ (NCAC) annual Christmas Homecoming Concert at New Carlisle’s Honey Creek Presbyterian Church on Dec. 6.

Ms. Judy Lee (alias: “Mrs. Clause”) served as narrator during the afternoon concert, while chorus members sang a combination of new holiday songs and classic Christmas favorites to tell audience members what happened when it “‘Twas the Week before Christmas.”

Two highlights of the concert were the appearance of English Carolers singing “Deck the Halls”(played by Mr. Dave Wiles, Ms. Ruth Steinebrunner, Mr. Ron Huth, and Ms. Wilma Wiles), and a dramatic interpretation provided by Ms. Cindi Cook of what happened to one couple during the “Twelve Days After Christmas.”

Mr. Bill Berry founded the NCAC in 1985 and Mr. Taylor Ball has directed the Chorus since 2013. Under Taylor’s leadership, Chorus membership has doubled; there are currently 44 NCAC members and Taylor would like to double that number within the next five years. Taylor’s other goals include increasing local sponsorship for the NCAC and broadening the Chorus’ travel opportunities, “We used to travel around the country and were once known as ‘Ambassadors of Clark County;’ I hope we can once again take on that role.”

Chorus members say singers in New Carlisle and the surrounding area should join the NCAC because “it’s fun,” and it provides “opportunities to meet new people.” “Mrs. Clause” especially points out that people should join the Chorus because its performances “help bring joy to audiences.”

The NCAC performs throughout the year and will once again perform its “‘Twas the Week before Christmas” concert on Dec. 12 at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney (7:00pm), and on Dec. 19 at One Lincoln Park in Dayton (2:00pm).

Fans can listen to NCAC concerts on YouTube as well as follow the Chorus on Twitter and Facebook. The NCAC performance schedule, Chorus sponsors, and other Chorus information can be found at ncacchorus.com.
