Evelyn S. Renfro, age 80, of Laurel, Indiana died Monday, November 7, 2016 at her residence in Laurel, Indiana.

Born May 14, 1936 in Richmond, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Henry X. & Mamie Lucinda (White) Smith. On February 3, 1954 she was united in marriage to Nelson A. Renfro, and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2016.

Evelyn was retired and had worked for many years at Springhill, Meadowview, and Studebaker Nurseries. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and crafts. She was also an excellent cook.

Survivors include three children, Debra (Tom Whipple) Richardson of Laurel, Indiana Ronald (Jamey) Renfro of Andersonville, Indiana and Barbara (Wiley) Gibson of New Carlisle, Ohio; 12 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Couch of Hazard, Kentucky; and three brothers, Thomas Smith of Metamora, Indiana, Charles Smith & James Smith both of Brookville, Indiana.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nelson, she was preceded in death by a son, James Renfro, a grandson, Joshua Dunn, and nine brothers & sisters.

Family & friends visited from 4 until 6:00 P.M. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Pastor Curtis Taylor officiated the Graveside Services at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at New Carlisle Cemetery in New Carlisle, Ohio.
