86, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Oakwood Village in Springfield following a brief illness.

He was born August 3, 1930 in his home at 2719 Maplewood Ave, Springfield, Ohio. He was the son of the late Floyd and Juliet E. (Blake) Gracy. Gerald graduated Class of 1948 from Springfield High School. He was a member of the choir and past trustee of the First United Methodist Church where he was also involved in the Stephen Ministry program. He was a past Chancellor of Red Star 205 Knights of Pythias; Past President of Dayton Hydraulic Society; past member of New Carlisle Community Chorus; Past President of New Carlisle Sertoma Club (1979-80) and was named ‘Sertoman of the Year’ (1998) for outstanding service to the community and club. Gerald’s endeavors were in many areas of technology. His last in Springfield was as a Systems Engineer at Springfield Machine Tool Company. After the sale of the company, he worked for approximately thirty years as a consultant of which he spent seventeen years at Proctor & Gamble Co. His last major project was a DoD project for US Air Force Base in Korea. He then formed G&G at Sigler, Inc. to pursue real estate which he did until his passing. Gerald loved animals, being outdoors, and was an avid bridge player.

Surviving are his children, Jerry (Cindy) Gracy of New Carlisle and Kathy (Mark) Kasper of Granville; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Beatty of Urbana and Nancy Strader of Springfield; grandchildren Laura Gracy, Sarah Gracy, and Catie Gracy of New Carlisle and Derek (Christina) Kasper, Blake Kasper, Erika (Mike) Sheets, Grant Kasper and Kayla Kasper of Granville; great-grandchildren Emma and William Kasper and Coleman and Logan Sheets; many nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his loving wife, GeeGee (Hart) Gracy; his parents; his sister, Dorothy (Gracy) Fay and his brother, William E. Gracy.

A gathering celebrating Gerald’s life will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:45 followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 220 S. Main St., New Carlisle, OH with Pastor C. Frank James officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
