Scarff Betty90, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Samara Memory Care in Fairborn. Betty was born on October 1, 1925, in New Carlisle, the daughter of Lawrence A. Brandt and Christine (Cooper) Brandt. She graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1943 and attended Ohio State University. She modeled for Wrens Department Store and worked as a secretary at Frigidaire in Dayton during WWll. Betty married James Fredrick Scarff in the Brethren Church in New Carlisle, on March 9, 1946, after Jim returned from his service in the war. She enjoyed many activities throughout her life, primarily collecting and refinishing antiques for their home, gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with and taking care of her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Carlisle.

Betty was preceded in death by Jim, her loving husband of 68 years in March of 2014. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard Brandt, infant daughter, Jane Brandt, sisters-in-law: Jane Scarff and Carolyn Winters; and nephew, William Scarff Jr. Betty is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Becky (Jim) McLean of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Debbie (Rob) Fuller of Louisville, Kentucky, and Amy (Richard) Pitzer of Enon, Ohio, six grandsons whom she adored, Kevin (Kate) McLean, Mark McLean, Joshua (Jenny) Fuller, Patrick (Stephanie) Fuller, Logan Fuller and Brian (Melissa) Pitzer, 11 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law William Scarff, sister-in-law, Joan Brandt, several loving nephews and nieces, and many caring long-time friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at The Summit at Park Hills/Samara Memory Care Center in Fairborn and to Hospice of Dayton who graciously cared for Betty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton Foundation, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420-1890 or the charity of your choice. Private services to be held with burial in New Carlisle Cemetery.
