State Marching Band Competition 014

The Tecumseh Marching Arrows marched into Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Ohio on Nov. 1 to compete in the Ohio Music Education Association’s (OMEA) 2015 Ohio State Marching Band Finals; when the Arrows marched out again, they brought an “Excellent” rating along with them.

The Ohio State Marching Band Competition spans five days and provide a place for Ohio’s best high school marching bands to show off their “creativity, imagination, dedication, and commitment.” Throughout the marching band season, high school marching bands throughout Ohio can compete in the numerous local, OMEA sanctioned marching band competitions; the best bands then go on to compete in the state finals.

Making it to the Ohio State Marching Band Finals is an important event for band members.

According to Tecumseh High School senior tuba player, Sean Collins, “”It is a big deal to the band to get to go to state. To see that all the hard work we put into marching band paid off is really awesome.” Rebecca Strickland, a sophomore trumpet player comments, “I was very excited to go to State. It was even better because it was our second year in a row!”

Senior Piccolo player, Amy Caughenbaugh notes how impressive it is for a band with so many inexperienced musicians to make it to the Ohio State Marching Band Finals, “I was proud that we qualified for finals with half our band members being new this year.”

The completion of Marching Band season does not end the year’s band activities. The Tecumseh High School band’s next performance is December 17. More information can be found on the high school’s website at:  http://www.tecumseh.k12.oh.us.
