In what turned out to be a close battle for the Central Buckeye Conference girls’ track championship, Tippecanoe edged Shawnee 111-100 to capture the team title Friday in the league meet that was held at the new track at Tecumseh High School.

Tecumseh girls placed fourth overall, while Greenon finished seventh and Northwestern eighth.

For the boys, Bellefontaine had little trouble claiming the title with 130.5 points, with Tippecanoe a distant second with 100. Northwestern was fifth, with Tecumseh sixth and Greenon 12th.

The top eight placers in each event earned team points in each event.

In the girls’ 100 dash, Greenon’s Rachel Stute placed third overall with a 12.79, with Tecumseh’s Jasmine Hassell fourth and her teammate Kiya Dennis eighth.

Stute came back in the 200 and also placed third running a 26.45, while Tecumseh’s Hailey Beel was fourth and Lunden Mason from Tipp was seventh.

Stute nearly captured the 400, placing second with a 58.17, with Tipp’s Makenzie Dietz fourth, her teammate Sammie Rowland fifth. In the 800, Tipp freshman Kaili Titley ran to the win with a time of 2:23.61. Katie Taylor, another Tipp freshman was third with Northwestern senior Korynne Berner fifth and Tecumseh’s Brooke Hoffman seventh.

Taylor came back in the 1600 and finished second with a 5:21.91, with Hoffman (Tecumseh) fourth, Jillian Brown (Tipp) sixth and Kyndall Berner of Northwestern eighth. Finally in the 3200, Abbi Halsey from Tipp placed third overall, with Morgan Crowley of Tecumseh fourth, Caley Dehass of Tipp was fifth, Brooke Smith of Northwestern sixth and Emma Hoover from Tecumseh seventh.

The hurdles saw Taylor Prall of Tecumseh finish second in the 110 with a time of 15.97, her teammate Lydia Stueve was sixth and Alina Blunk of Tecumseh was eighth. In the 300 hurdles, Tecumseh sophomore Audrey Diller set the school record with a 47.68 placing her second overall, with Prall fourth, Macy Ricks of Tecumseh fifth and Tori Livesay of Tipp eighth.

In the relays, Tecumseh placed first overall in the 4x1 (51.86) with Tipp fourth and Northwestern eighth. The 4x2 also saw Tecumseh capture the title (1:49.96) with Tipp third and Greenon sixth. Tipp came back and won the 4x4 in a time of 4:14.20 with Tecumseh third and Greenon seventh. The 4x8 was won by Tippecanoe as they ran 9:46.55, comfortably in front of the field. Tecumseh was third with Northwestern fifth and Greenon eighth.

In the field events, Korynne Berner placed second in the high jump (4-10) with her sister Kyndall Berner placing fourth and Hassell from Tecumseh sixth. Hassell came back with the best local finish in the long jump with 15-9.5, Rowland was fifth, Olivia Hale of Greenon placed seventh and Kyndall Berner eighth.

Jaclyn Bashore from Tipp won the pole vault, as the freshman cleared 9-feet. Faith Legg of Tecumseh was fifth, and Sydney Maxwell from Tecumseh was seventh. The area also saw several finishers in the throws, as Kari Norton was third in the shot put (31-10.5), while Olivia Lawrence of Northwestern was seventh and Marissa Garber of Tipp placed eighth. In the discus, Greenon’s Kaprina King was fourth (103-3), with Hannah Wildman (Northwestern) sixth and Aurora Miller of Tecumseh finishing eighth.

*The boys’ 200 dash saw three local runners place in the top eight. Malik Quisenberry finished fourth overall as the Tecumseh senior ran a 23.76. Jonathon Tomaro also from Tecumseh was sixth, with Tipp’s Casey Abney eighth. Tipp junior Nathan Hamberg was third overall in the 400 (51.60), with Abney finishing fifth.

Mitchell Poynter began the first of his two individual titles, as the Tipp senior won the 800 with a 2:00.88. Northwestern junior Ryan Cleland was fourth, Thomas Chaney from Tipp placed fifth and Trent Studebaker from Tecumseh was seventh. Poynter came back in the 1600 run, and set the CBC meet record with a 4:20.49 to capture that title. Keenan Fraylick from Tipp was third, Cleland finished sixth and Northwestern’s Justin Prack placed eighth.

In the 3200 run, Tim Andrews from Tipp finished second (10:07.60), with Northwestern senior Kyle Jamison finishing fourth, Jordan Brown of Tipp fifth and Prack seventh.

The 300 hurdles had Ross Warren of Tecumseh finishing second overall with a 41.30 and Tipp freshman Josh Burritt placing sixth.

The boys’ 4x1 relay had Tecumseh placing third overall, while Tipp finished fourth in the 4x2. The mile relay finished with Tipp placing fourth, Tecumseh sixth and Greenon seventh, and in the 4x8 relay, Tippecanoe won the event with an 8:17.29, Northwestern finished third and Tecumseh seventh.

Several athletes shined in the field events as well. In the long jump, Tecumseh junior Zack Nabil was fourth overall with 19-5.5, with Northwestern’s Landon Burns eighth. In the high jump, Burns responded with a first place finish and a leap of 6-4, with Tipp’s Ben Jans sixth and Nabil eighth. DJ Johnston placed third overall in the pole vault, with his Tipp teammate Mason Doll fourth. Simon Hebert from Tecumseh finished sixth.

Northwestern freshman Adam Riedinger won the shot put with a toss of 48-3, with Issac Haas from Tipp fifth. In the discus, Matt Garber from Tipp was second (135-9) with Ty Rickmon of Greenon was third, Hass fifth, and the Northwestern duo of Blake Jamison was seventh and Riedinger eighth.

The district meet takes place this week for all area teams.
