Eleven area players have been selected to the District Nine Coaches All-Star teams, as voted on by the coaches in District Nine recently at their annual winter meeting. The top ten players plus ties are all selected to the all-star teams in each division.

Tecumseh junior Clay Mastin was honored to the boys Division One team, as he averaged 14.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season.

On the Division Two team, a pair of Tippecanoe Red Devils were honored by the coaches among the 11 players voted onto the team. Senior Zach Bonifas averaged 12.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Red Devils this season, while junior Caiden Smith came in at 10.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

In Division Three, both Bethel and Northwestern have players who were selected by the coaches to the coaches list. Bethel junior Caleb South was honored to the first-team, averaging 24.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for the CCC champion Bees this season, while Northwestern senior Kurt Waters was named to the first-team list as well, as he averaged 19.8 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, leading the Warriors to the CBC Mad River Division championship.

*The Tecumseh girls’ basketball team placed two players on the Division One coaches team, as sophomores Presley Griffitts and Corinne Thomas were both honored as unanimous choices. Griffitts averaged 20 points per game for the CBC Kenton Trail Division champion Arrows, while Thomas finished the season averaging over 26 points per game, including 25 in their sectional championship loss to Beavercreek.

The Division Two team saw three area players honored, including two from the GWOC and District Champion Tippecanoe Red Devils. Junior Allison Mader was named to the team, averaging 14.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while junior teammate Cali Stewart finished the season at 10.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Also on the Division Two team was a fast rising Greenon freshman Reagan Ware, who averaged 18.0 points per game for the Knights, as the Greenon squad looks to make a vast leap in the standings next season with several key freshmen players making key contributions this season.

Finally in Division Three, Northwestern senior Abby Zerkle was honored as a first-team player, as she scored 20.7 points per game for the Warriors this season.

*The District Nine senior all-star games will be held March 30-31 at Troy High School. In the girls’ Division 1-2-3 game on March 30, local players for the North team will be Zerkle and Rachel Martin of Northwestern, Morgan Crase of Bethel, and Bailey Benedict of Greenon.

Also on that date, the boys’ Division 1-2-3 game will follow and will include Waters and Ryan Cleland of Northwestern, along with Tyler Terry from Bethel on the South team, while on the North team will be Bonifas from Tippecanoe.

The Division Four girls’ and boys’ games will be held on March 31.
