Tyler Brookhart won his second game of the season on the mound, as the Bethel Bees used a three-run fourth inning to help defeat Miami East last week 4-2. With the win, the Bees remain unbeaten in the Cross County Conference, while running their overall record to 2-4 overall.

Bethel scored in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Vikings, and came back in the fourth with the three spot. The Vikings scored twice in the fifth inning, but they did not threaten again.

In the win, Brookhart only allowed two hits and struck out eight, while collecting two hits of his own at the plate with an RBI. Also for the Bees, freshman Kenton Egbert collected two hits including a double, and drove in three runs on the game.

The game was moved to Miami East due to the field at Bethel not being playable due to the previous rain that hit the area.

Also last week the Bees lost to National Trail in a conference matchup 2-0.

Bethel Softball- In a key Cross County Conference game last week, Bethel lost a tough 10-8 decision to Miami East in a game played at Bethel High School.

Bethel had the lead until the sixth inning, when the Vikings scored four times to take the lead. Bethel only answered with one run and fell short in the conference game.

Brie Ellish took the loss for the Bees on the mound.

At the plate for the Bees, Grace Anthony was 3-4 with a triple, two doubles and 2 runs batted in, Becky Schweiterman also went 1-4 with a pair of RBIs, and Megan Shaffer added a pair of hits.

“We had enough offense tonight to win the game, but we had untimely errors that led to four runs,” said Bethel coach Jeremy Reitinger. “It’s tough to lose a league game that way, one that we had a good opportunity to win.”

“Our goal is to win every inning, and tonight we won five out of the seven but it wasn’t enough.”

The Bees came back and lost 8-7 to National Trail on Thursday.

Anthony was 2-4 for Bethel with a double and RBI, Maddy Inman was also 2-4, while Schweiterman added three hits with an RBI, and Reitinger added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Bethel led into the seventh before falling short.
