If there is one thing that is for sure, Bethel sophomore Korry Hamlin cannot ever complain about being bored with nothing to do.

All year long, the Bees multi-sport athlete is actively involved in an extracurricular activity that keeps him busy.

“I play soccer and basketball, as well as running cross country and track,” Hamlin said. “There is no rest or off-season for me.”

During the fall, Hamlin can be seen shining on the soccer field, along with running alongside the best cross country runners in the area.

“I was on my first soccer team when I was four,” he said. “I have always grown up a soccer player as my dad is the high school coach with over 350 wins. Both of my brothers have been all-state soccer players at Bethel (Kyle, Kurt).”

He noted that one of his biggest soccer highlights was playing alongside his brother Kurt as a freshman and being on a very successful Bees team, which is the norm when talking about Bethel soccer.

Also in running, Hamlin can remember running his first race when he was in fourth grade.

“I happened to win that race, and I haven’t looked back,” he said. “Competing in the state meet as an individual two years in a row was the big highlight in cross county for me.”

Then there is basketball, which occupies his time in the winter months.

“I grew up play that since I was five,” he said. “Again, I don’t know anything different than playing all of these sports. Hamlin, who also plays spring club soccer, is ready to use these summer months to improve on his already talented skills.

“I plan to and have run nearly every day in the summer to increase endurance which will enhance my skill for soccer and running,” Hamlin said. He also stated he wasn’t going to work on anything in particular, just to increase his all-around skill.

He also has lofty yet reachable goals for the spring. He wants to be all-state in soccer and for his team to win the district championship. For cross country, he wants to be in the top 25 at state.

In soccer, he has already racked up second team all-area as a freshman, and first team all-conference and area last year, along with being selected second-team all-Ohio. In cross country, he was all-conference his first two years.

He does plan to attend college and is undecided on what he wants to major in, but likely something in math. Hamlin also wants to either run or play soccer in college, just like his two brothers before him.

In addition to all of the sports that Hamlin plays, he is also active in the Bethel High School choir and is a member of the Bethel leadership team.
