Last year, she took everybody by storm, and nobody saw it coming. She dominated on the mound as a freshman, and took the Northwestern softball team deep into the tournament.

This year, Jenna Robbins is a year older and was known by every team in the Central Buckeye Conference, and most of the time, they still couldn’t do much about it.

Robbins was the key force in the success of the Warriors again this year, leading them to the regionals before falling short of a trip to state.

But Robbins was consistent as always on the mound, pitching just over 164 innings and striking out 229 batters, only allowing 1.32 earned runs per game. And with their potent offense, that was usually enough.

Robbins began playing both softball and basketball at a young age, and she has loved them ever since.

“I began playing basketball when I was eight, and softball when my parents signed me up when I was four years old playing for a 6U travel team,” Robbins said. “What influenced me the most was the amazing teammates and family around me.”

For Robbins, she has worked hard to master her craft.

“(In addition to travel softball) I have been taking pitching and hitting lessons since I was ten years old,” she noted. “I am always working on improving the spin and speed of my pitches and just becoming a better teammate and player overall.”

While she dominates on the mound, she was also a key part in the success of the basketball team. While her team finished second in the Mad River Division, Robbins averaged nine points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Her balanced basketball team needed her to contribute and she did. Her season high was 16 points early in the year against Bellefontaine.

Even though she was effective in both sports, Robbins stated that softball is her favorite. That is where her long term goals are.

“I have goals to play softball at a Division One college in the future,” she said. “I want the team to make it further in the tournament next year, and continue to keep bringing home that CBC trophy every year.”

“I also want to continue rising my strikeouts numbers and become a better player overall.”

Her freshman year, Robbins was named first team all-conference, while this year, she was first team conference, first team all-metro north, and second team all-Ohio.

She wants to go to college and study forensics or criminal justice.
