New Carlisle shoppers now have another option in their search for affordable fashion, as The Style Loft opened downtown late last month, and plans to expand this winter. Offering affordable fashions in extended sizes, the boutique primarily stocks modern clothing for a younger audience, but the owners say that women 65 and older have found appealing pieces as well.

BreAnna Staggs and Ashley Westfall are co-owners of The Style Loft, which officially opened in New Carlisle on September 26. Staggs said that business “has been wonderful” since opening, and noted that they plan to also open a children’s boutique in the coming months.

Staggs said they initially opened the store in Kettering in April of this year, but made the move to New Carlisle because it was closer to home. She said they also preferred the small town atmosphere, saying the boutique was better-suited in New Carlisle than in the larger city.

Staggs said that she and Westfall got their start by creating handmade hair bows and other personalized items for sale on online craft sites such as Etsy. A graduate of Bethel High School, Staggs said she moved back to Huber Heights and focused on developing her pieces and opening the store so that she could spend more time with her son and her family, and also as a way to keep her mind occupied while coping with the death of her husband, who was killed in a car accident in Arizona last year.

Staggs said that she and Westfall select each piece in the store, traveling to New York and Las Vegas for the latest fashions. She said their clothing styles are primarily “young contemporary” but noted that older women have left with great outfits as well. Although Staggs and Westfall are the store’s two primary employees, Staggs said that their mothers Pamela Staggs and Anaka Miller, along with Staggs’ Aunt Diana assist when they’re busy with their sons. Staggs expressed her appreciation for her fiancée Jason Pund, as well as his parents Kathy and Danice Barker for helping the store become a reality.

With prices ranging from $2 to $100, The Style Loft carries sizes from Extra Small to 3XL. They currently sell clothing and jewelry, but could consider adding footwear later on.

Staggs said they plan to expand the store and add a children’s boutique in the connected shop within three or four months, although she was not at liberty to disclose the name of the children’s store yet.

Beginning this week, the store will also offer professional spray tanning services along with the boutique items.

The Style Loft is located on West Jefferson Street across from CVS, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
