New officers in the Western Clark County Business Coalition officially took office at the first of the year.  The new President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer have all been members of the coalition since its official formation two years ago, yet will now assume different leadership roles as new officers are elected annually.

David Trimmer, one of the WCCBC’s founding members, will assume the role of the coalition’s President.  Trimmer, a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones of New Carlisle, replaces former President Scott Griffith of Lee’s Famous Recipe.  Trimmer said the new officers represent businesses in New Carlisle as well as Enon/Mad River Township, which he hopes will bring more exposure to the village and its surrounding areas.

Stepping into the role of Vice-President is Jeff Turner of K9 Solutions Center of New Carlisle.  K9 Solutions Center specializes in training police canines and family dogs, as well as offering private and commercial security operations.  Turner said his business opened in 2000, and that he has been a member of the coalition since 2012.  He said the WCCBC provides his business with great networking capabilities that were unavailable before the coalition’s formation.

“It offers a lot of benefits—it appeals to me most because of its networking abilities,” Turner said of joining the coalition. “Western Clark County was kind of a void between Springfield, Huber Heights, Tipp City, and Troy…the coalition was founded because there are so many businesses in western Clark County that didn’t really have a voice,” said Turner.

Nancy Masters, Banking Center Manager of Mad River Township’s WesBanco will now act as the WCCBC’s Secretary for 2015.  Masters said this will be her first year as Secretary, but noted that she has been on the Board of the WCCBC since its formation.  Former Village of Enon Administrator Chris Lohr acted as the coalition’s secretary in 2014 before abruptly resigning in September.

Kristy Thome of the Village of Enon, who acted as the coalition’s Secretary upon Lohr’s departure, will now assume the role of Treasurer of the WCCBC.  Thome said that she and Masters essentially “swapped positions” this year, joking that the other members “twisted her arm” into becoming Treasurer.  Thome, like the others, has been with the coalition since its inception in 2012, saying she believes the coalition is a “very good group for the businesses of western Clark County.”

Scott Griffith, outgoing coalition President, said the WCCBC began with about a dozen members, but grew to twice that fairly quickly.  Griffith said the coalition currently has just over 100 members, and hopes to readily expand in 2015.

“I’m proud to see the enthusiasm is just as high as when we started,” Griffith said. “This organization is in good hands, and I’m looking forward to working with David Trimmer and the new leadership team.”
