It all came down to one bakers game, and the Tecumseh Arrows were so close.

After finishing first in the opening round of the Clark County bowling tournament, the Arrows headed into the four-team invitational as the favorites. After advancing to the finals, they watched as Kenton Ridge rolled a 192 in the finals, while the Arrows finished with a 166 to finish second overall.

“We still had the best girls team there no doubt in my mind,” Tecumseh coach AJ Malloris said. “These girls never got down on themselves, and if they missed something, they went onto the next frame.”

The day started with the Arrows scoring 3769 in the preliminary round, where each bowler threw three games and the teams then capped it with six baker games. Tecumseh was led by Katie Portner with a 201-195-256 and was named the outstanding bowler on the day with a 652.

Also for Tecumseh, Michayla Chapman rolled a 177-224-172, Amy Burgher had 160-216-192, Katie Stamper 162-180-157and Jessica Perkins 159-141-174. The bakers games for Tecumseh were 180, 186, 158, 137, 167, 175.

For the Arrow boys’ team, Zach Helm rolled a 170-187-175, Caleb Collins 210-183-210, Matt Brown 213-169-214, Noah Burns 226-169-214 and Dylan Terrell 226-267-231. They also rolled baker scores of 184-246-177-224-205-226 for a total of 4329, placing them second in the prelims, and sending them to the four-team championship bracket.

They defeated Kenton Ridge 1890154 and 176-166 in the best two of three semis, then in the finals, Tecumseh fell to Northwestern 236-192 and 205-189. Terrell was the top bowler on the day with his series.

*Greenon boys’ finished sixth overall on the day, with the team averaging 183 throughout the tourney. Jason Pritchard was seventh overall for the day with a 184-258-209, earning him a place on the all-county team.

Also for the Knights, Frankie Gmuca was 15th overall with 187-222-199, Kennie Vincent 192-126-188, Sean Freeze 172-173,153, and Jacob Stoner 135-155,181. Greenon’s baker games were 192, 190, 189, 146, 168 and 244.

The Greenon girls’ results were not reported as of presstime, but they did compete in three matches last week, falling to Notheastern 1762-1678 and losing to Graham 2506-1894. Amanda Smith led the way against Graham with a 227-211, while Victoria Critchley rolled a 135-204, Ella Sermershwin 130-127, Cheyanne Cook 110-99, and Gabby Edwards 91-88.

*Northwestern also did not have their county results in, but they lost two matches last week, falling to Urbana 2875-2673 and Indian Lake 2773-2472.

The Northwestern girls’ squad lost to Urbana 2736-2267 last week in CBC action.
