The 2016 Buckeye Insurance Group Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament takes place in Garbry Gymnasium at Piqua High School on December 29-30. This year’s tournament is once again split into two divisions for both Varsity and Jr. Varsity boy’s teams. Competing for the Green Division trophy will be defending champions Russia Raiders along with Covington Buccaneers, Lehman Cavaliers, and Troy Christian Eagles. In the Red Division, Tipp City will defend last year's championship against the Belmont Bisons, Tecumseh Arrows, and the hometown Piqua Indians.

Junior Varsity (JV) games take place at 9am, 10:30am, Noon, 1:30pm and Varsity games at 4pm, 5:30pm 7pm and 8:30pm both days. Tickets run $4 for students and $6 for adults and can be purchased at the door. For both JV and Varsity games, one ticket provides admission to all the games at that level each day.

Once again, the Holiday Classic is proud to award one $500 Holiday Classic Scholarship to a senior varsity team member from each school who possesses the highest GPA and who has previously lettered in sports. Funding for these scholarships is provided by sponsors: Muzzy Broadcasting, Buckeye Insurance Group and Buckeye Ford; as well as funds raised during the first annual Holiday Classic Scholarship golf tournament that took place in June of this year.

This tournament is fun for the whole family and regarded as one of the Miami Valley’s premier sporting events. To learn more please visit www.981wptw.com for more tournament details.
