Keaton Mohler dives back to first base but safely makes it to second on a wild throw.

As the Greenon Knights’ defense walked back out onto the field to start the sixth inning, they were comfortably in front of the Tecumseh Arrows by five runs, as they were looking to finish out a game they had controlled since the opening inning.

Then, the game took a crazy turn.

The Arrows fought back to take a one-run lead late, only to see Greenon fight back to tie the game at 7-7, and in the eighth inning, the Knights scored the game-winning run on a passed ball.

The win was the 100th career win for Greenon coach Dan Young,

Greenon opened the game with a big first inning, after retiring the Arrows in the top of the first. Greenon loaded the bases before Riley Williams was hit by a pitch thrown by Tecumseh starter Nick Yeary to push across the games’ first run. Luke Downing then lined a two-run single to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.

Another big hit from Garrett Camden plated Williams to cap the scoring in the opening inning, and the Knights led 4-0.

Tecumseh threatened in the second as Evan Maxwell walked but was forced out on a ground ball from Keaton Mohler. After Dominic Kuzujankis threw wild on a pickoff attempt to move up the runner, Davey Berner popped out and the runner at second was caught off the bag in between second and third, ending the threat and keeping the Arrows off the board.

Greenon came back in the third with a single and walk before a walk to Downing to load the bases with nobody out. A sacrifice fly from Camden drove in the fifth run of the game, and the Knights led 5-0 heading to the fourth.

Tecumseh scored a run in the sixth before a big seventh inning where they took the lead forcing the Knights to tie the game in their final at-bat, and Greenon then won the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.
