Several area teams participated in the Greenon Swimming Invitational last week at Trotwood Madison High School. The host Knights joined Tecumseh and Bethel as area teams who were involved in this event, with several area kids swimming successful times.

In the opening event of the day, the girls 200 Medley Relay saw Tecumseh finish tenth overall with Michelle Murray, Morgan Murray, Julia Randenburg and Emma Arndts swimming a time of 2:17.37, while Bethel finished 29th with a time of 2:39.90 (Mya Stephenson, Audrey Elms, Grace McKinney and Chloe Drummond.

In the boys 200 Medley Relay, Tecumseh finished 14th as Logan Back, Alex Kennedy, Lane Brents and Gavin Mefford-Gibbins swam a 2:09.31. Bethel placed 20th with Connor Whelan, Kyle Smith, Max Schell and Samuel Pahal finished with a time of 2:13.89.

Murray came back in the girls 100 free and placed ninth overall for the Arrows, with Morgan Murray 31st, Greenon’s Rachel Ruff swimming 32nd (1:13.83), Savannah Short (Bethel) finished 40th. Sophia Yarwick (Bethel) was 56th, Mackenzie Strang (Greenon) finished 64th 1:22.64.

In the boys 100 yard Free, Tecumseh’s Alex Kennedy finished 16th with a time of 1:00.15, Schell was 27th for the Bees (1:02.32), Cole Schlereth of Greenon placed 42nd (1:08.54), Pahal from Bethel was 47th (1:11.55), Riley Farrell of Greenon 53th (1:14.33) and Quinn Armstrong of Greenon placed 55th.

Randenburg swam well in the girls 100 IM, placing fourth overall with a time of 1:07.54 earning Tecumseh 15 team points. Her teammate Murray finished 18th, with Bethel’s Stephenson finishing 34th.

In the boys’ race, the top local finisher was Whelan from Bethel who finished 17th overall with a time of 1:12.34. Back from Tecumseh was 20th in the event.

McKinney from Bethel was the top local finisher in the girls 50 Free with a 22nd place finish, and a time of 31.21. Nina Smith from Tecumseh finished 25th, Morgan Murray 31st and Bethel’s Savannah Short was 51st. Greenon freshman Josie Haas was the highest Knights finisher in the event as she swam a 35.68 good enough for 82nd overall. Her teammate Mackenzie Stang was 84th.

The boys’ 50 Free saw Kennedy from Tecumseh finish 14th overall with a 26.60, with Bethel’s Whelan 34th, and Greenon’s Dillon Carlson was 90th.

Randenburg came back again and shined in the girls’ 50 Butterfly, finishing third overall with a time of 29.40. Bethel’s Maggie Kahler finished 19th (34.92) and teammate Stephenson was 33rd (40.04). Greenon’s Rachel Ruff finished 38th (45.28).

Schell was the highest placing local boy in the boys’ 50 Butterfly as the Bethel senior placed 20th swimming a 31.95. Greenon sophomore Cole Schlereth placed 25th with a 33.50.

In the girls’ 50 Backstroke, Smith swam to a sixth-place finish (35.62), with Bethel’s McKinney finishing ninth (36.16). Greenon’s Morgan Pegg finished 42nd and her teammate Hass was 48th.

Back swam to a 13th place finish in the boys’ 50 Backstroke, with a time of 33.46. Brents also had a solid finish for the Arrows, placing 23rd overall.

Up next was the girls’ 50 Breaststroke, where Kahler finished 15th overall for the Bees with a time of 40.37. Tecumseh’s best finish came from Alexis Lewis who was 37th, and Katelyn Pelfrey was 43rd.

The final events of the night were the 200 Free Relays. The girls’ team from Tecumseh place 12th overall with a time of 2:02.67, while the Bees finished 14th (2:07.30). Greenon finished 35th overall.

In the boys’ race, Tecumseh finished 16th, Bethel 18th, and Greenon 31st.
