It’s that time of year where every senior student that is getting ready to graduate, is frantically going about finding what college they are going to attend.
There are so many universities, colleges, and community colleges to choose from; it has to be stressful on a 17 year old. Seniors are still deciding what they would like to major in and what school is best in that field of study. The local high schools have initiated many programs to help students learn more about financial aid and scholarships to help get them through their college applications. Programs such as, college application days where students are excused from class for a day to fill out many applications for schools, in which they then receive a raffle ticket to put into a drawing for a prize. However, to some students sports are a main factor. What school has the best athletic departments? Do I want to attend a division one school or a division three? For two Tecumseh High School seniors that decision making process was no problem. JT Brubaker and Leona McDaniel signed with their athletic coaches in the winter of 2011. Early decision making processes are a good idea for students to take advantage of. Brubaker signed with the University of Akron in early November. He had received a scholarship to play baseball. This being the main factor he chose to go to Akron. With Brubaker’s excellent pitching abilities he would be a wonderful addition to this team. In the fall of 2012, he will be attending Akron with a major in Secondary Education. Be sure to watch for the Tecumseh Baseball schedule in the spring to see what Brubaker can really do. Leona McDaniel recently made her early decision to go to Manchester College, in Indiana. Upon her visit in December she finalized this decision with Coach Cashdollar for cross country and track. McDaniel received scholarships for music and academics. She will also be starting at Manchester in the fall in 2012. McDaniel plans on majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience with a minor in Creative Journalism. These studies were her main reason for choosing Manchester. In the spring watch for Leona McDaniel as well as many other potential runners as the Tecumseh Track season begins. Congratulations JT Brubaker and Leona McDaniel for your early selection. Good luck class of 2012 may your college decision making be a breeze and your last days of high school be successful! Comments (0) |
