CVS was quickly able to get up and running on the sale of beer and wine.
All major brands of beer are being carried and numerous varieties of wine are now lining twelve full linear feet of store space. As expected, sales have been very good. But, along with the increase in alcohol products, in general, there has been an increase in all sales. This availability has been a time saver for some customers, being able to combine two trips into one. In a brief conversation with Howard’s IGA, they have seen no decline in the sales of alcohol, they are doing very well. Seems there is definitely enough business to go around. Same with Pizza Plus, business is good. According to CNN--- Alcohol sales climbed with little interruption throughout the recent recession, and have continued to expand in recent months. In 2010, sales jumped more than 9% as unemployment grew to 9.6%. The old saying ‘people will drink, even when they are broke’, seems to be true.
