On January 18th, 2012 at approximately 8:25 pm Uniform Patrol Deputies were on Cambridge Court in New Carlisle in order to serve a felony arrest warrant. Upon making contact with the resident, she stated that the wanted subject (her grandson) had been staying at her residence, but was not there at the present time. The female resident also stated that she lived there with her husband, but that he was gone as well. Deputies noted the strong odor of marijuana, and upon asking the female about the odor, she indicated that it was coming from the residence next door. As deputies continued to speak with the female, a male subject appeared at the top of the stairs; deputies identified the male as the woman’s husband. Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the residence, in order to ascertain if anyone else was present, as the female resident had already attempted to deceive deputies at the scene. While conducting the sweep; the wanted subject was not located. However, deputies discovered a small amount of marijuana, as well as a small marijuana grow operation in plain view inside a bedroom. Deputies secured the scene and contacted investigators to respond. Upon investigators’ arrival, a consent search was conducted; the indoor grow operation was dismantled, the contraband was confiscated, and additional suspected drugs were discovered. All items were confiscated and submitted for analysis. The suspects were released and no charges have been filed at this time. However, criminal charges may be filed upon receiving the laboratory results. This incident remains under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Comments (0) |
