New Carlisle City Council conducted their business in near-record time on Monday evening. Vice Mayor Lowell McGlothin reminded Council that Bicentennial Calendars are now available for $6.00. There is also a good supply of Sesquicentennial books, and both are priced at only $10.00. Council Member Terri Hoffman added that Bicentennial T-shirts, coffee mugs and patches are also available. Bicentennial merchandise is available at many locations throughout town, and all proceeds help put on the year-long Bicentennial celebration in 2010.  Interim City Manager Kim Jones announced that she sent out two thank-you letters. One went to Mr. and Mrs. Rick Lowrey for their donation of a table saw to the street/cemetery departments. The other went to American Legion Post 286 for their donation of funds to purchase body armor for one of the City’s deputies. Jones also suggested that the City hold its annual town meeting at the beginning of the year, rather than in October of each year. Her reasoning was that the year-end review cannot be complete in October since the year has not yet ended. She suggested that it be moved to the first meeting in February. Council made it so. The next town hall meeting will be February 1, 2010 at the Smith Park Shelterhouse at 6:30 PM. Council member John Krabacher asked Jones about the Tecumseh flags that have been placed on the flagpoles in town. She said that Tecumseh personnel had put up the flags in recognition of the Arrows’ first playoff game. Council heard first readings of six ordinances:
