Despite rain and thunderstorms, the New Carlisle Relay For Life raised over $22,000 for the American Cancer Society last weekend.

“We fell about $8000 short of our goal,” said Heather Powell, chair of the event.  “We had 20 teams registered, but only 11 showed up.  I think the storms scared a lot of people away.”

Several scheduled activities were cancelled because of lightning.
