On Tuesday May 25, 2010 at 11:43 AM, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Abi Clark, reporting a vehicle had crashed into her home at 6511 New Carlisle Pike.
Upon the arrival of Sheriff’s Deputies, and Fire & EMS personnel from Bethel Township, investigation revealed that the operator of a 1999 Mercury 4-door was driving southbound on Folk-Ream Road approaching the stop sign at New Carlisle Pike.
The vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign, and drove onto the property. As the operator attempted to gain control of the vehicle, she avoided a tree and drove into the living room area of the home.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Beverly Ann Haiges, age 65, of 1550 Bending Tree Road, New Carlisle. The operator was extracted from the vehicle by fire personnel and transported to Miami Valley Hospital with visible injuries. Her immediate condition is not known. She was alert and conscious at the time of transport.
The property, owned by Mark & Pam Clark, received heavy damage to the living room area. A Clark County Building inspector was called to the scene to check the structural stability of the home.
The crash remains under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Charges are pending on the operator of the vehicle pending completion of the crash investigation.
