The Bethel Board Of Education announced Monday evening that Jeff Cassell will become the district’s new superintendent. He replaces Robert Hoover who announced his retirement in June after serving two years in the post.
Â
Cassell comes to Bethel after serving as Vandalia-Butler Human Resource Director and Technology Coordinator. He also worked in the Franklin Monroe and Bradford District. “I’m glad to get this position,” he said. “I thank the board for having confidence in me.” “We interviewed a lot of good candidates and finally trimmed it down to three,” said Board President Deborah Watson. “We all agreed Mr. Cassell was the best.” Board members had nothing but good things to say about the departing Hoover. “I want to thank you for what you were able to achieve for this district,” said board member Carl Bowman. “Also for the integrity you brought to this board.” Board members voted unanimously to place a levy on the November ballot which will renew all of the existing emergency tax levy money which now comes to the district estimated to be $531,000 a year. In other action the board: Accepted the resignation of Jacob Williams as assistant varsity football coach. He will be replaced by Kenneth Wise. Approved the girl’s soccer camp for July 16-17 and 30 and 31. Approved the cross country trip to Tiffin on Sept. 10-11. Approved the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip March 15-18. |
