Two local Knights of Columbus Councils (6144 in New Carlisle and 3724 in Fairborn) completed a successful fund raising campaign to help Family Youth Initiatives (FYI) purchase an ultrasound machine for use by local women wishing to view their unborn child. Both councils would like to thank over 50 generous donors including various Knights of Columbus Councils and 4th degree Assemblies, Clark County Right to Life, Daughters of Isabella 911 and many individuals in the local area.
Supreme Knight Carl A Anderson exclaims that “The Ultrasound project Saves lives” and “Up to 90 per cent of women considering abortion chose to have their baby after seeing an ultrasound image”. Pat Banaszak, the director of FYI notes “Men will also be encouraged to start bonding with their baby while it is still in the womb. Statistics show that men bond with the baby even at that early point in time and are more reliable for support of the baby’s needs.”
The local councils raised over $10,000, more than required to receive a match from the Supreme Knights of Columbus. On June 26, 2010 the Councils presented FYI a check for $8000 ($7250 for the machine plus $750 for shipping and handling) to cover the local share. Also on June 26, FYI received a matching check for $7250 from the Supreme Knight, Carl Anderson. The Knights will make a formal presentation during the Celebrate Life banquet during October 2010.
FYI can now purchase the machine. FYI will locate and install the machine in a leased room inside the New Carlisle Community Health Center (formerly Salud Clinic) at 106 N. Main Street in New Carlisle. Medical staff from the center will provide the knowledge to operate the machine and interpret the results. FYI’s Women’s Network will promote this as a service to all clients visiting its New Carlisle, Fairborn and Springfield pregnancy counseling offices. FYI plans to provide transportation between the three locations and the Health Center.
FYI is still in need of funds to furnish the ultrasound room and to maintain the machine.
To continue support for this effort, you can mail your donation to FYI, 468 N. Dayton Lakeview Road, New Carlisle, OH 45344. FYI will provide a receipt to each donor for this tax deductible gift. For details contact Pat Banaszak (845-0403) executive director of FYI. |
