Four local bands will host Swamp-A-Palooza on Saturday, Aug.28 from noon until 8 p.m. at the VFW 9684 at 1587 Lake Road in Medway. The event is free and open to the public. A 50/50 raffle will be held with the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.
The bands host a variety of shows throughout the year playing mostly classic and hard rock songs.  The bands in order of appearance are: The Hugely Brothers, Breakin' Even, Zero Tolerence and The Fleez. Each band is expected to play about an hour and a half. This will be an outdoor event so fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The VFW will sell hot dogs, hamburgers, Brats, chips, water and soft drinks to guests. Guests, however, are welcome to bring their own coolers and snacks. The event is a hit on Facebook with over 130 guests planning on attending. The Internet social website has been a great way for the bands to generate publicity. "The bands really wanted to thank the fans who pay to watch them play throughout the year and Facebook has been a great way to tell them about the show," said organizer Cindi Mills. The Hugely Brothers are: Dan Mc Hugh, Fred Shuirr, Rick Martin, Tom Spurgin and Chris Nuss all of Springfield. Breakin' Even is: Larry Mills, Don Beach and Rick Brown of Medway, Kevin Parks and Mike Humphries of Park Layne and Shane Humphfries of Donnelsville. Zero Telerence is Mike Humphfries, Dustin Combs, Shawn Patrick, Matt Humphries and Josh "Red" Geiselman all from New Carlisle. The Fleez are Mike Colley from London, Fred Shuirr, Terry Metz from New Carlisle, Ed Haskins from Dayton and Larry "Big Poppa" Mills.
