Tecumseh placed second overall in the Clark County girls’cross country championships last week at Northwestern High School, as they accumulated 57 points. Greenon was third overall with 101. Northwestern also had some individuals who ran well.

Shawnee dominated the girls’ meet winning the top three spots. Brooke Smith of Northwestern placed sixth overall with a time of 21:03.85. Also for Northwestern, Emily Funderburg was 29th with a finish of 24:00.32 and Maddie Johnson was 38th (24:52.97).

Tecumseh saw Morgan Crowley place eighth overall, as she ran a time of 21:33.0, while teammate and senior Danielle Franklin finished tenth with a time of 22:11.15. Emma Hoover was close behind as she placed 12thwith a finish of 22:15.67 and Breanna Crowley was 15th with a time of 22:32.89.

Two more Arrow runners placed in the top 25 in the county, as Staci Harmon was 21st (22:57.82) and Megan Pennington 23rd(23:12.79).

Greenon also saw four runners place in the top 30. Leading the way was Rachel Dewey who placed 14th with a time of 22:26.26. Also for the Knights were three consecutive finishes between 24-26, as Rhiannon Morlock ran 23:13.54, Olivia Blevins 23:23.87 and Katie Conley 23:28.08.

In the boys race, Northwestern battled Shawnee for the top spot, and fell just four points shy for second overall. Greenon placed fifth overall, and Tecumseh was seventh.

Northwestern’s Justin Prack claimed the county title for the boys, as he ran 16:42.00, eight seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Kyle Jamison was fifth overall as the Warriors runner finished with a 17:18.05, and Ryan Cleland sixth at 17:35.17. Finishing eighth was Liam Randall with a time of 17:43.38 rounding out the top ten runners.

Jake Boop also ran 19:01.83 for Northwestern, good enough for 28th in the county, while Levi King ran 19:34.09 (39th).

Greenon was led in time by Max Pettit, who ran a 17:13.36, placing him fourth overall in the county meet. Joel Pensworth also placed in the top 20 with a time of 18:00.46 and 12th place, while finishing 20thoverall was Greenon’s Cameron Haught was a time of 18:28.20.

Also finishing in the top 50 for Greenon was TJ Wisecup with a 20:06.70 and Conner Bushnell with a 20:29.40.

Tecumseh saw their top runner Garrett Gemmaka place 21stoverall with an 18:29.05, Caleb Ricks was 24th (19:18.13), Jack Dague 36th (19:21.02), Ethan Adams 37th (19:28.40) and Trent Studebaker placed 46th (20:11.73).

The CBC meet is this Saturday, with Tecumseh, Greenon and Northwestern competing again for a league title.
