Thursday, 1/26

4:27 p.m. To Kendig Rd. for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. A man reported that his son, the son’s girlfriend and their child live at his home and have been causing a lot of chaos lately. He said that the son has been very disrespectful and not “pulling his weight” around the home. Both the father and son agreed to stay separated for the evening to avoid any further issues.

5:13 p.m. To Prentice Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that his brother threatened and kicked him. He said the only reason he called is because his brother called deputies on him. He said he had video, but his phone was dead. The deputy had a charger that fit his phone and saw a 45-minute video that was very dark. The man said that all he wanted to do was go home and for his brother not to bother him. He did not wish to press charges. Both brothers were accusing each other of being on meth. The deputy believed that both parties were on some type of drug.

6:32 p.m. To W. Main St., Medway, for a report of an unwanted guest. A man reported that his roommate’s friend had come over, began drinking whiskey and became so intoxicated that he was asked to leave. He said that as the friend was leaving, he picked up a landscaping brick and threw it at his bedroom window breaking the window. He said that he did not wish to press charges, since they are friends. He did ask that the friend not return until he sobers up. The friend was located, informed of the RP’s wishes and transported to his home.

Saturday 1/28

12:58 a.m. To Shepard St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that during family game night, her husband became upset. She said he locked himself in the bathroom and started braking things. She said he then came out of the bathroom and kicked the wall, leaving a hole in the drywall. Once he went outside, she locked the door because she was afraid that he might break something else. She said he kicked the door open to get back inside, returned to the bathroom to clean up his mess and cut his right thumb on a piece of broken glass. She said he again left the home. The deputy asked the woman to call her husband to have him return to the home, and he complied. He refused medical attention and called a friend come pick him up to let things cool off. No charges were filed.

8:25 a.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a domestic dispute. A man called to report that his girlfriend was on his way to her home, and her ex-husband was following her. He gave dispatch her cell phone number. Dispatch called the girlfriend and she said that when she noticed that he was following her, she drove past the RP’s home and pulled into a driveway on Folk Ream Rd. She said he pulled in behind her, then left. A deputy went to visit the RP, and he said the girlfriend had called him and told him that her ex was following her. He said he then heard screaming, and she asked him to call 911. He said the ex did come to his home, but that there were no problems. The girlfriend then arrived and said that she was in the middle of a divorce and that she and the RP were once married. She said she was coming to visit the RP when she noticed that her ex was following her. She said she pulled into a church parking lot, her ex came up to her and started screaming at her, then left. She said that she was concerned that he might cause problems with the RP. Both were advised to call if there are any further problems.

8:47 a.m. To Dalton Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone stole the batteries from a truck. He said the replacement value is about $500, and that there are no suspects. The deputy found two capsules commonly used for meth in the parking lot. They were collected and submitted into evidence.

5:32 p.m. To Park Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman said that she and her husband were involved in a verbal argument that started the night before. She said he was upset about Facebook and apps on her phone. She said he has been getting more aggressive toward her. The husband left before deputies arrived.

Sunday 1/29

2:27 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a man with a gun. The deputy arrived to find three men outside a business, one had a gun sticking out of his pants pocket. The deputy secured the gun and spoke with the man, who was the owner of the business. He said that the two other males had been messing with equipment in his business. He said he confronted them and asked them to leave. He said that they became argumentative and one kicked the door as he was leaving. He said he grabbed that male and told him to never come back. He said that the other male came into the business a few more times and was screaming at him. He said that he went and got his gun and told the man that he had a gun, in order to scare him. He said he never pointed it at anyone and just got it to scare the men off. The deputy spoke with the two males (father and son), and the father said the business owner grabbed his son by the neck and it made him mad. He said he did go back into the business a couple of times yelling because he was mad. He did not wish to press charges. Both were advised that they were not welcome at the business. The business owner is a CCW permit holder and the gun was returned to him.

Monday 1/30

7:39 p.m. To Greenheart Dr. for a report of a violation of a protection order. A woman reported that she has a protection order against her husband and the order states that they can only communicate on matters regarding their child, or if it is work related. She showed a text message that he sent stating, “Why is Verizon charging me?” She said she did not respond. A warrant was being requested against the husband for violating the protection order.

Tuesday 1/31

1:21 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a possible shoplifter. A store employee reported that a woman had been in the store for about an hour and was putting items in her purse. The deputy approached the customer and she had a can of carpet cleaner in her purse. She said that she was going to pay for it. She was advised that she matches the description of a person that had shoplifted from that store and another store in Park Layne. She was advised that she was trespassed from both stores, and if she entered either, she would be charged with trespassing.

5:41 p.m. To Weinland St. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that neighborhood kids keep causing damage in the area and that they spray painted a sign in her yard for a roofing company. She also showed the curb in front of another residence that had been spray painted with inappropriate words. A friend identified possible suspects, but had no proof.

9:03 p.m. To Galewood Dr. for a report of menacing. A woman reported that she has been having problems with a neighbor, and that today the neighbor came to her house yelling at her for no reason, started banging on her door and threatened her with bodily harm. She said that the neighbor punched her door, then left. She said she is tired of the neighbor coming over uninvited. She said that in the past, the neighbor has entered her home uninvited and threatened her. She asked that the deputy speak with the neighbor. She said that the sons of both women are friends, and she doesn’t want to break up their friendship. Attempts to contact the neighbor were unsuccessful.

Wednesday 2/1

9:17 a.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of vandalism. A man reported that sometime yesterday, someone drove through the rear yard of a rental property. The vehicle tore up the lawn in a circular fashion. The tenant said he brought some friends home from a bar and a young white male followed, thinking he was invited. He said he informed the man, and the man was upset and drove through the yard as he left. The tenant said he would try to identify the subject.

Monday 1/23

3:50 p.m. Assist citizen in the 5500 block of Ross Road. RP stated he had meet Barbara Neff through a mutual friend. Neff was going through tough times and asked the RP if she could move in temporarily until she was able to get her affairs in order. The week before the US Marshalls learned of Neff’s location and came to his house to arrest her on a warrant out of Clark County leaving her vehicle and personal property at the residence. On this day the RP went out to move the vehicle out of the way and noticed the steering column was broken. He became suspicious and called the MCSO. Upon the deputy’s arrival, the license plate was run through LEADS and it was found the vehicle had a stolen hit from Cincinnati North Kentucky International Airport Police. They requested the vehicle be towed to a local lot and it would be picked up at a later date. They would also be filing charges against Neff.

Saturday 1/28

00:33 a.m. Traffic stop in the 7400 block of E. State Route 571. Deputy was traveling westbound on St Route 571 when he observed a Ford truck traveling towards him and appeared to be traveling greater than the speed limit. He activated his radar unit and the truck was traveling 78 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Traffic stop initiated and contact was made with the driver Lonnie Cantrell and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from his person. When asked, Cantrell stated he had consumed two beers. He was asked to submit to a field sobriety evaluation and he stated no and added he was not drunk. Due to Cantrell having blood eyes and a strong odor of alcohol, he was placed under arrest for OVI. Cantrell was transported to the MCSO where he was read the BMV 2255 form. He refused a chemical test. After receiving his citation for OVI, he was released to a sober driver.

8:40 p.m. Traffic stop for equipment violation in the area of Shroyer Drive and US Route 40. Contact was made with driver Levi Conley and reason for the stop explained. Conley admitted his license was suspended. Contact was made with the registered owner of the vehicle and she advised to leave the vehicle and it would be retrieved later. Conley was cited for plate light and driving under suspension.

9:42 p.m. Parking complaint in the 4100 block of Gibson Drive. RP stated a vehicle had been in the parking lot overnight, possibly for over 27 hours. Deputy attempted to contact the registered owner with no success. Randy’s towing responded and towed the vehicle to their lot.

Monday 1/30

3:01 p.m. Hit skip accident in the 9700 block of Bellefontaine Road. Deputy spoke with driver of a garbage/recycling truck. He had stopped attempting to collect the recycling when he heard a crushing sound. He turned on his back up camera and observed a vehicle backing up and then drive around his truck. The vehicle stopped and the driver asked if the male if he was okay. The male said yes and there was no damage. The vehicle then immediately drove off. The driver exited his truck and saw pieces of plastic from the vehicle’s bumper and a license plate. Information was gathered and deputy attempted to make contact with the male that resided in the 1200 block of Hemlock in New Carlisle. A business card was left with instruction to call dispatch so the deputy could speak with him. Approximately an hour later the officer received a call from Daniel Galbreath who admitted to rear ending the garbage truck. Galbreath was advised he would be receiving a citation for assured clear distance ahead and leaving the scene of an accident.

7:04 p.m. Traffic stop for speeding in the area of S. State Route 202 and E. State Route 571. While attempting the traffic stop for speeding, deputy observed the vehicle not stopping for the traffic light at St Rt 202 and St Rt 571. Driver was identified as Bradley Rickels who informed the deputy his license was under suspension. After this was confirmed through LEADS, Rickels was cited for speed, running traffic control lights and DUS. He was released to a valid operator.

7:47 p.m. Traffic stop for equipment violation in the area of S. Dayton Brandt Road and S. State Route 201. Contact was made with the driver identified as Samuel Fernandez Botello and he was advised the reason for the stop. When asked for his driver’s license he was said he didn’t have one but was able to produce a Mexican identification card. His female passenger also advised she did not have a valid license or any other type of identification on her. Running Botello’s information through LEADS it was found his driving status was failure to reinstate. Botello received a citation for failure to reinstate his license and a warning for the license plate light. The female passenger telephoned for a ride and a licensed driver to remove the vehicle from the scene. Upon their arrival, they were unable to remove the vehicle due to only one of the responding individuals had a valid license.

Wednesday 2/1

9:33 a.m. Fraud reported in the 9700 block of Wildcat Road. A credit card had been used without the victim’s permission. The bank was contacted and the fraud department will be investigating.

Thursday 2/2

1:03 a.m. Disturbance reported in the 8700 block of Bellefontaine Road. Upon arrival deputies found Justin Neely sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. After investigating the incident, Neely was placed into custody for domestic violence, possession of drugs and open container. He was transported to the Miami County Sheriff’s office and incarcerated.
