When the dust had settled, the difference between Greenon, Tecumseh and Northwestern was as slim as it could be.

While Graham (184.5) won the Central Buckeye Conference middle school wrestling tournament, Greenon was a close second with 166 points, and even closer was Tecumseh, who finished third gathering 165.5 points. Finishing fourth was Northwestern with 158 points, as all three local schools showcased a promising future on the mats.

In the 80 pound weight class, Northwestern’s Deaven Balmer won the championship with a 1:45 pin over Chelsea Horsley of Bellefontaine in the finals match. Also winning a league championship for the Warriors was 104-pounder Evan Davis and 150-pound Nathan Dewey. Davis pinned Ethan Snapp from Indian Lake in 32 seconds in the finals, while Dewey defeated Tecumseh’s Wyatt Ferguson in the championship match 10-6.

Finishing as runner-up for Northwestern were Cayden Stephens at 92 pounds, Josh Dooley at 128, Evan Nager at 142 and 245-pounder Reagin Haley.

Greenon also placed four wrestlers in the finals, with two Knights bringing home the gold to Enon. Chase Trainer at 116 pounds defeated Tucker Newland from Bellefontaine in 24 seconds the fastest pin of anyone in the finals. Kameron Cox from Greenon also won the title at 128 with a pin over Northwestern’s Dooley.

Placing as runner-up from Greenon was 86-pounder Arlie Benson as he lost to Trace Braun of Graham 7-2 in the championship round, while Adam Myers at 134-pounds also fell short in the finals, losing 6-1 to Lane Mefford of Indian Lake.

As for the Tecumseh Arrows, Alex Mills won the 245-pound weight class with a pin in 57 seconds against Haley of Northwestern, while four Arrows placed as runner-ups.

Stanley Gibson lost at 98-pounds to Troy Kennedy of Graham by tech fall 17-2, with Ferguson losing to Dewey at 150.

Dakota Croxdale at 160 finished second for the Arrows, as he lost in 1:06 in the finals to Trey Williams of Urbana, and finishing second at 205 was Aaron Doyle, as the Tecumseh wrestler lost in 55 seconds to Cadman Roose of Ben Logan.

Placing third for Greenon was Lucas Valley (98), Brendan Parrett (142) and Brad Aiple (160). Three Tecumseh wrestlers also placed third: Keith Evans at 110, Blake Wilson at 122 and at 128 Dalton Hodge.
